Guinness QR Code Glass
Developed by BBDO, New York, the new Guinness Pint glass brings Beer advertising to a new level.
Once visible and activated, the clever QR code checks you in to Foursquare, tweets about your pint and/or updates your Facebook status. “And in a nice branding twist, you have to use Guinness — or at least another very dark beer. If your beer is filled with an ordinary pilsner like Budweiser, you won’t be able to read the code.”

2012 Sino-UK Higher Education Collaboration on Upcycling of Industry Leftovers
For the last 2 weeks I have been based in China, taking part in a British Council led design project based at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. The project revolved around ‘Up-cycling’ the waste from the production processes of local industries. Working individually and in teams with other students from the UK and China, I created 2 designs, which went on to be shown in a public exhibition.
Throughout the two weeks, we visited various factories, design studios and had the opportunity to meet local designers. It was a fantastic two weeks, working with so many other great students and lecturers. I learnt so much, not just regarding design, but also about Chinese culture and the industries out there. I would really love to go back and explore the country more, or do a similar project again.

Heikki’s 2012 Helmet
Formula 1 Driver Heikki Kovalainen has recently allowed games developer Rovio to cover his helmet with an Angry Birds theme for the 2012 season.
“Kovalainen, who drives for Caterham F1, is from the developer’s home country of Finland, so is a natural fit for the company. The helmet isn’t the only example of Rovio branching out with its Angry Birds brand. Recently, the company announced it was working with a major theme park in Finland to create an entire section called Angry Birds Land”.

Ocado’s New Range

Designed by London based agency jkr, “Ocado’s new packaging designs, creates a fresh identity for the brand. The new look & feel, builds and elevates the existing Ocado brand mark, creating a distinctive and attractive design system which can work across the brand’s diverse range of own label products. This was then rolled out and implemented by the internal design team at Ocado”.

“The aim was to make people love Ocado’s products as much as they loved the brand. We wanted people to be happy to see the packaging in their cupboards and around their kitchens.”

So colourful and simplistic making the products so visually effective. Love it!

I know I comment on Lego a lot, but I just love the simplicity of these adverts and how they leave a lot to the viewers imagination… yet we still all know the theme of each one!

Lego Advertising: I think this is an amazing idea, I can’t believe how well it works.
